Savor Seneca County

Our Cover Story for the Summer Wine & Food issue is on beautiful Seneca County.

Wine Country

Located in the Finger Lakes region of New York State,  between Cayuga Lake and Seneca Lake, this area is, agriculturally perfect for growing a variety of produce … including grapes. Thus, Seneca County has wonderful varietels – reds  and whites – and even produces ice wines.

Wine Trails

It makes sense that with all that wine, there should be wine trails. There are two in Seneca County. Seneca Lake Wine Trail with 34 wineries and Cayuga Lake Wine Trail with 16. Both wine trails boast award-winning wineries and wines!

Cheese Trail?

Hey, nothing goes better with wine, than cheese! Seneca County has a CHEESE TRAIL!  Really; we are not kidding. And these are natural cheeses from local farmers.

Eating Fresh, Eating Local

Yes; you’ve got it. There is an abundance of fresh, local food up in Seneca County. Residents enjoy it; visitors can, too!

Specialty Dinners

Enjoy the fresh, local cuisine AND the incomparable Finger Lakes wines at a winemaker dinner. Here you can enjoy the creations  - in combo – of the local chefs and the local winemakers. It doesn’t get any better than this!

Well, may it does… try a Progressive Dinner, where each course is served at a different location on the winery grounds.

Or experience a “Field-To-Table” dinner. These combine local farm, wine and culinary talents to produce a multi-course dinner, complete with entertainment, hosted on a farm or at a vineyard.

Hungry yet?

Fork & Cork Wine & Culinary Event

Well, then plan on taking in a very special event. Finger Lakes Cork & Fork, happening Sept 17, 2011. It is a showcase and marketplace of the region’s agriculture, viticulture and culinary best. Friday night is the “Partners and Pairings” VIP event.Live jazz plays as top regional chefs, purveyors andwinemakers strut their stuff, creating tapas using localingredients, each paired with its own local wine. The Main Event on Saturday is where you sample and buy from 80 Finger Lakes farms, food producers, wineries and restaurants, and attend team cooking demos andshort informational seminars.
